Vintage Panasonic Stereo Speaker System

Found this set of speakers at a thrift store today. They are Panasonic model RP-8048 portable speakers. They clip together but can be folded open and separated. The speaker wires fit neatly into little spaces on the back side of each. After looking online I think they were originally designed for attaching to turntables.

Vintage Hide-Out Rewind #3

SOME FINDS FROM YEARS PAST. I'll try to post up old finds from time to time to keep things interesting.
The infamous JoaoBambu "bamboo" leg cast that I painted. It was autographed by many well known people in the bamboo world and last I heard it is on display in the bamboo museum in Brazil. Vintage, one-of-a-kind oil painting of Burt Reynolds from the Bandit time period that I found at a local flea market. Never used vintage "Hot Nuts" machine I found at a garage sale. The first Schwinn Sting-Ray I bought on eBay in about 98-99. Not a very original bike, late 70's or so...... I kept it a few years then sold it off (1965 VW Bus in background that I fixed up with my brother).

KampKold Ice Cooler

Found this vintage KampKold ice cooler at the Mount Dora Antique Flea Market. It is in good original shape with normal wear. Very 1950's looking with the red/black color combo and splatter paint details.

UPDATE: Sold to the UK!

History from a Reader:

"saw the kampkold cooler on your web site. My Dad worked in the factory that made those. It was called Queen Stove Works in Albert Lea Mn. These were made from the mid 50's to almost 1970-- in some form or another. A variety of collors with the black squiggles on the main color. Of all the coolers we had as I was growing up you'd think I would have kept at least one. I didn't. They also made kamplite, lanterns, and Kampkook stoves.. Then they switched over to make Scotsman Ice machines in the mid 1960.s Dad is gone now and so is the company.. Scotsman moved the ice machine manf. to South Carolina in the early 80's"

Another Mid Century Chair & 1950's Thermos

On my way to the flea market this morning I came across a pair of teak mid century chairs in the same trash pile as I found the wicker chair on Thursday. They must be cleaning out the back porch or something. I only kept the one chair since the other was pretty beat and not worth fixing. I plan on giving it the treatment this week and it should come out nice. I also found a 1950's ribbed aluminum Thermos.

The Wicker Chair Is Finished!

The wicker chair I found on Thursday is finished. It didn't need much but I did have to fix a broken weld on the legs and glue a few areas on the seat. I painted the legs gloss black, added new rubber feet and mixed up some varnish clear coat which I sprayed over the wicker. It came out nice and looks good with my other chair.

Grolsch Beer Man

The Grolsch beer man! I'm guessing this is some kind of advertising piece or bar display for the company. He is about 8.5 inches tall and made of plastic. It says "Holland Grolsch Beer" on the front near his feet.

Mid Century Wicker Chair

Found this mid century wicker chair while curb surfing this afternoon right before a rainstorm moved through. Not sure of the maker and it needs a bit of work to make it nice again, but overall it is a cool chair. I'll try to post up some better pictures of it once I clean it up.

Old Black Powder Rifle - Toy or Real?

Got this for only a buck at a yard sale this morning. It is missing some pieces but seems to be pretty old. It has an octagon shaped steel barrel, wood body and a small round opening storage compartment. There are a few markings on the metal parts like "Made in Spain" and the number 15965 stamped in the wood and barrel. Is it a toy or real? Time to do some research.

UPDATE: After some research/discussions today I've come to believe this rifle is an old toy of some sort. Not heavy or durable enough to be real. Value??? Let me know what you think.

Toy Cars

Sweet Buddy L van with the 70's dirtbike theme, black Fire Ball Corgi Junior 70's van, magenta Matchbox Datsun 260 Z 2+2 with opening doors, and a green Matchbox Baja Buggy. All found at one of the local Thrift Stores.

Not really old but I liked the images on the sides and thought it was unique, plus it was FREE. The box folds open and has a large hole in one end. Watch the bunny reappear!!!
