Baby's Room Wall Mural

Big congrats to my little sister for becoming a mother (ok, she isn't little anymore, just younger). I did this custom painted wall mural with the baby's name and ocean theme above the crib for baby Makayla Grace Obrien. It's done with a mix of acrylic and water colors.

December 1968 Schwinn Orange Krate

I finally found a cheap krate bike! My best find from the weekends carshows was this Dec 1968 Schwinn Orange Krate with 5 speed top tube shifter. It is very complete and original with lots of patina. I plan on cleaning it up as best as I can and making it a rider with new tires/tubes and cables.

UPDATE: Half a day of tear down and clean up of the frame. The majority of the chrome parts will take a few evenings to make nice but at least the frame is ready.

UPDATE: 1/30/11
Got more done on the krate bike. It's starting to look like a bike again. I still have a bunch to do but I am happy with the results of just a cleaning/preservation effort.

UPDATE: 2/17/11

The krate is now rolling again!! Only a few more parts to clean and install and it will be a rider. I'm very happy with how it's coming out so far.

Update: 3/6/11

The Orange Krate is finally finished!!! I completed it just over a week ago in time to bring it to a VW show as my cruising bike. It got tons of attention and I met some very cool "bike" people because of it. Overall it got new tires, tubes, brake pads, cables/housings and all the chrome has been cleaned and clear coated to prevent rust from coming back. All the frame paint is polished and waxed. I may redo the seat sometime in the future but for now I like that the bike is as original as possible plus it rides great. I plan on holding on to this one for a long time.

Pair of Vintage Travel Trunks with Decals

Sweet pair of vintage trunks covered in travel decals (second one is hiding in background). I nabbed these at a local thrift store. One has more decals on it than the other but both are very similar. Look to be from around the 1940's or so. Better close-up pics to come soon.
UPDATE: Trunks are SOLD!!!

SwissAir Travel Bag

Found this neat old SwissAir travel bag the other day. Made from blue vinyl and has plenty of room for small things, could be used as a carry on bag. Looks to be from the 60's or 70's.

Vintage Eames Style Lounger

Score of the day!! I got a great deal on this Eames style lounger chair at a yard sale today (only $15!!!!!). The wood is nice but the leather is torn and dry. It has a made in Sweden sticker on the base but I can't find any other maker marks or stickers. Could be a Selig? I plan on reupholstering it so I may find other hints under the pads. Add this one to the "to do" list.

NOS Stoprite Brake Lining Set and FoMoCo Regulator

Picked up these NOS parts at a yard sale today. FoMoCo 15v/30a regulator number 2700015 and a Stoprite brake lining set sold through Western Auto Supply Co. The brake set fits late 30's early 40's Fords and Mercurys and is complete with new rivets and instruction booklet for mounting.

Lothar and the Hand People

I saw this record in the bin at a thrift store and just had to buy it. The cover alone is just great! 1960's psychedelic rock filled with MOOG synthesizer and other trippy instruments.
